Legal and corporate affairs
Ashriff Feris
Ashriff Feris graduated from the University of Namibia with an LLB. He works for AB InBev Namibia as a legal and corporate affairs graduate. His responsibilities include assisting in the implementation of the company's legal and corporate affairs strategy. This involves managing legal risks, analysing contracts, maintaining compliance, and offering legal advice on business-related issues. "I also help with regulatory affairs, staying on top of key regulatory issues and developing strategic responses," he added.
He also assists in engaging stakeholders, such as NGOs and government, in order to influence policy, create relationships, and conduct research for regulatory filings. "I also assist in the retention of licences, corporate governance, and reporting related to communications and company projects," he said.
His areas of expertise include corporate and commercial law as well as other legal facets of the company, such as compliance and risk management. "A career in law requires dedication, continuous learning, and a genuine passion for justice. Something I believe pushed my passion for law further was debate and public speaking, which go a long way in cultivating a reading culture, and research, communication, and analytical skills, which every lawyer should have. Finally, a career can be challenging, and setbacks are common, so you must have resilience to persevere through the tough times and setbacks," he said.
