Law: Admitted legal practitioner

Robert Nestor Xamseb is an admitted High Court of Namibia legal practitioner who works at the Legal Assistance Centre (LAC) in the social justice project department. The LAC is the only public interest litigation centre in Namibia. "At my core, I am a human rights lawyer," he said. He specialises in refugee law, constitutional law, human rights law and environmental law at the LAC. As a result, he works closely with refugees and asylum-seekers at the Osire Refugee Camp, as well as disadvantaged and vulnerable people throughout Namibia. He also focuses on gender issues, children's rights and indigenous people's rights. According to him, humility, integrity, honesty and diligence are key in this profession. He further listed resilience as one of the qualities that has served him well in his career. “Turbulent moments are inevitable in any career and ours is no exception. I think failure to learn from failure is the real failure. You must learn from the unfavourable judgment or ruling and be prepared to use it in your next similar case,” he said.He believes the old adage ‘your network is your net worth’ is more than just clever saying. “It is a fact of life. Nobody in this world can ever presume to say they achieved their success alone.”
