Elkan Mbidama has one of the most unique trades in the country that is only offered at TransNamib. As an examining and repairing training officer, he ensures the safety of locomotives by checking that the wagons are well-maintained and the train itself is in good condition.

“One has to start off as a trainee examiner and repairer and grow into the trade, as well as get certified to be able to reach the position of a training officer in the department. In this trade, one must be punctual, disciplined and have respect. Without the three traits, one will not be able to thrive in this department,” he said.
