COMMERCIAL FARMER Tjijandjeua Kavetuna

Tjijandjeua Kavetuna's passion for farming started when he was 16. Since then, he has worked tirelessly to become a commercial farmer. He farms in the areas of Okahandia, Outjo, Okamatapati and Okandjatu.

Kavetuna mainly does livestock and crop farming, meaning he mainly deals with cattle, sheep and goats as well as horse breeding. As for crop farming, he mainly plants vegetables on his farm in Okamatapati. He said he supplies Meatco, Agra and Blouberg, while for small stock, he also supplies local households for enjoyment "like a lekker Namibian braai".



VETERINARIAN

Dr Emilia Nambinga

Dr Emilia Nambinga has been a veterinarian for the past year and is currently a junior veterinary clinician at the University of Namibia Veterinary Academic Hospital, which is a branch of the Neudamn Veterinary Hospital. Namibinga mostly enjoys what she calls the transformation process of her job. "Some patients are brought in with bite wounds, broken legs, or not eating, accompanied by worried owners who are just hoping that we can help their pet, and sometime later the very same patient walks out bright and happy, healthy, and well; that is my favourite part of this job." In addition, the diversity in her career makes her job stand out. "I can go from being a wildlife veterinarian to working in a lab," she explained. "I can also go from setting up feeding programmes for farmers to being a researcher.'

Immanuel Simao

Immanuel Simao is the founder of Bright Light Agritech, an agricultural pioneer focused on scientific innovation. The company's core mission is producing bio-fertilisers for sustainable farming, enabling mass crop production and vegetable cultivation in the country. Simao's inspiration originates from his upbringing, with their family garden growing spinach, tomatoes and carrots.
