Colour excellence guaranteed

Windhoek Express recently caught up with Dulux Namibia’s new general manager, Schalk Burger, who said that in Namibia he sees many opportunities for growth. “But in a nutshell, the heart with which our products are made is absolutely fantastic. Our paints are one of the few that are made with the end-user in mind. So if you have little kids running around and you need to wash your walls constantly, or you need a paint that is made to resist the harsh Namibian sun, we have products that cater for these environments.
He adds that Dulux Namibia has a variety of ranges, from their top-of-the-range premium range that has the highest guarantee for up to 15 years and plus. “Then there are our mid-tiers which are guaranteed for 10 years, and of course we have an economical range as well, which is very affordable.”
Schalk says a priority is that they do their best to take care of their customers. “It's something I love about the company culture; the customer is always at the heart of our service.
“I’m also fortunate to be blessed with a team that has lots of experience in the industry, and just to be part of that, to lead them and to let them grow, is very exciting for me and an opportunity that I've embraced.”
So, what sets Dulux apart?
“In Namibia, service is everything. You can buy paint everywhere. But we don't sell paint, we sell solutions. And to sell a solution, you really need to understand your client's needs. What we strive for is to find out what our clients need, what needs to happen to satisfy their goal, why they are buying a specific paint, and if they are buying the correct paint for the specific problem or the decorative plan they have, and finally to provide technical and colour advice.”
An innovation is the Dulux visualizer app that you can use before you start planning a paining job.
Schalk: “The first thing you need to do is to download it from your app store. It works through your camera. You can literally take any room, select colours and themes, and then you can see what your own living room would look like with various colours before even having to buy anything. Then you come back to us and tell us what you'd like.”
As a matter of interest, Dulux has more than 3 000 colours to choose from, “so helping a client to streamline their choice and just get to a specific colour palette and themes. The visualizer also helps you pick up things you may like, what is fashionable at the moment, and what is available in the market.”
