Top craftsmanship with a personal touch
Crafting quality
Where old couches get new life, chairs find their flair, and your wildest texture dreams come true.
A remarkable woman has turned a simple idea into one of the capital’s most respected upholstery businesses.
Marey Upholstery, founded by Maria Hamutenya in Nasmith Street in 2017, as a humble venture inspired by Maria’s experience working in a canvas production environment.
“I was working somewhere that did canvases and I thought, why not start my own business?” she said. Today, that vision employs 25 people and serves both local and international clients.
The company offers a wide range of services, including upholstery for vehicles, custom canvas seat covers, outdoor furniture refurbishment, camping gear like travel bags and top bags, and even customised panels for game viewing vehicles and safari lodges.
“We do a lot,” Hamuntenya said proudly, listing work for major clients like Wilderness Safaris, Quad Construction, Toyota Hino, and Savanna Car Rental and many other companies.
Though based solely in Windhoek for now, Marey Upholstery has a growing national and international reach. “We courier anywhere, even Europe,” she added, emphasising their flexibility and commitment to client satisfaction.
So, what sets Marey Upholstery apart in a competitive market?
According to her, the answer is simple: “Quality. We are not in competition with anyone. We just do what we love.”
Looking to the future, she is open to expansion, with potential locations like Swakopmund or northern Namibia on the horizon. For now, her focus remains on delivering top-tier craftsmanship with a personal touch, summed up by their motto.
