A pageant organised by The Coastal Modelling Academy will serve as a fundraising event for the less fortunate members of the Walvis Bay community.

The event, which will take place at the Immanuel Ruiters School Hall in Walvis Bay, will feature 16 contestants from the modelling academy; and all proceeds will go towards feeding the less fortunate members of the harbor town.

According to Teopolina Jason, the founder of the Coastal Modelling Academy, there are many talented people who do not know how to express their potential. “This platform gives models an opportunity to express their potential by stepping into the spotlight and doing what they love,” she said.

According to Jason, the theme “Tropical Island” will bring nature indoors with organic colours, textures, and shapes. "The different dressing categories will include casual, creative, sport, celebrity, and evening wear. The event will also feature entertainment by local artists. Winners will be picked in the Miss Coastal Modelling Academy, first and second runner up, Miss Personality, Miss Photogenic, and Miss Debutant categories."

Jason said she expects the event to be “violence-free” and fun-filled. “We want everything to go as planned. We do not want chaos or any illegal activities at the occasion, which we intend to turn into an annual event. Come and spend the evening with us and enjoy the vibe.”

The academy is also taking in models between the ages 15 to 19. There are no height requirements, and anyone can join at an entry fee of N$100.
