Flame Nangolo eyes victory as he defends African title at home
Flame “SpecialOne” Nangolo has expressed his readiness and determination ahead of his WBO Africa super-featherweight title defence against Zimbabwe’s Tinashe “Chairman” Mwadziwane, set to take place on 2 May 2026 at the Roman Catholic Hall in Windhoek.
The Namibian champion, who is currently ranked 16th in the world, is aiming to climb further up the global ladder with this bout. “I have been preparing against some of the biggest boxing stars in the world. I am ready for this fight and I am determined to show my opponent what boxing is all about,” Nangolo said. “I have studied his fights carefully, and I can assure you that the victory will belong to me on the night.”
Nangolo remains unbeaten in his professional career, boasting a record of 14 wins, zero losses, and zero draws, including five knockouts. His promoter, Imms Moses, is confident that the fight will be a step closer to breaking into the top 15 in the WBO rankings. “This is an important fight for SpecialOne, and we are grateful to our sponsors for making this event possible. We are inviting all boxing fans to come out in their numbers. There will also be other local boxers in action on the undercard, showcasing emerging Namibian talent. It promises to be a thrilling night for everyone,” Moses said.
Mwadziwane, Nangolo’s challenger, is no stranger to success. The Zimbabwean fighter is a former national champion in flyweight, bantamweight, and super-bantamweight divisions, and he captured the WBF African Super Featherweight title in 2023, making him a formidable opponent.
With anticipation building, fans can expect an electrifying night of elite boxing action, national pride, and a showcase of some of Southern Africa’s finest boxing talent.
