Namibians head to World Schools Sport Games in Rio
Four Namibian youngsters are set to represent the country at the 2023 World Schools Sport Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 19 to 27 August.
The athletes are Alexandra Scheepers, a learner from Windhoek Gymnasium (high and long jump), Lodewikus L’wyk Viljoen from Pro-Ed Academy (discus and shot put), Liezel Munyaza from Lüderitz Secondary School (100 m and 200 m) and Manyima Lazarus from Biro Combined School (1500 m and 3000 m).
The youth and sport ministry awarded national colours to the four athletes yesterday ahead of their trip to Brazil.
The team will be accompanied by Benedictus Botha, their coach, Eveline Visage, team manager and Rogerdeltry Kambatuku, head of the delegation.
