Exercise power or service

Mandy Rittmann
SAPIENS WRITES:

All the parties in the National Assembly have reasonable manifestos/intentions (promises – lip service).

However, after thirty-five years in power, half the electorate is still struggling with poverty. The promise of Socio-economic liberation is very distant. Vision 2030 – peace, security and prosperity is a mirage.

People in leading positions live in comfort (self-service). They have a contract with the voters to deliver, but look after themselves first, on the principle of loyal (yes) comrade, cadre, connected, entitled economic empowerment. What counts is not what you know, but who you know!

The National Assembly is the mirror image of all Namibian’s hopes. All must contribute with the opportunity to go forward, in a positive, realistic partnership of, by, for, with the people.

Namibia, with its vast natural resources, has few people who should be poor if well managed and shared. We are blessed in addition, in the future, with oil, gas, and green energy (ammonia).

We share this place, we all belong, so let’s get along in shared peace and harmony, leading to prosperity.

Everybody is somebody. Let us live up to the virtues of Ubuntu/Harambee for a better future. Look forward and don’t blame yesterday.

Think not what your country can do for you, but what you can jointly do for your country in partnership with the willing and able. Yes, we can!

Exercise the mandate or the power voters (we) to serve public needs.
