Nghitumbwa’s fight postponed

The promoter Nestor Tobias has sent out a statement to explain the decision.
The date for Namibian boxer Phillipus “Energy” Nghitumbwa’s fight against China’s Zhong Liu for the WBO international super bantamweight belt has been moved.
The two were supposed to square off in Windhoek on 23 March; however, the fight has been moved to 27 April due to the passing of His Excellency Dr Hage Geingob.
The boxing promoter Nestor Tobias said in a statement: “I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the Geingob family and the nation at large during this difficult time. This postponement will allow us to mourn and celebrate the life of our late president.
“We thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to seeing you on 27 April at Windhoek Ramatex Centre.
“May we all remember the late President’s legacy and continue to work together towards building a much stronger and more united Namibia. We urge the nation to remain calm and strong during this difficult time,” added Tobias.
