The symbol of success
The matric jacket serves a great purpose.It is not just a piece of clothing; it represents victory and achievement.

The project was started by Mrs Hess in 2010 as a tradition for the school to maintain. The five grade 12 classes had to design a print for the jacket which had to meet the standard of appropriateness. We have to thank this year’s grade 12 learner, McKicha Mouers, for her design that received the stamp of approval from the principal.
“I am happy that I could contribute to the school’s image and tradition,” Mouers added.
Miss Coetzee, the sports coordinator, took over the project in 2014 after the retirement of Mrs Hess, and she explained that “the matric jacket is a memoir for the grade 12s to hold onto”.
The jacket consists of the core value colours of yellow and green which represent respect and responsibility.
A grade 12 learner, Taina Shomagwe, said: “It is a materialistic award for reaching grade 12 and wearing it brings forth a feeling of great honour”.
In the words of Geoffrey Chaucer, “all good things must come to an end”. The project has to come to an end as this year’s grade 12s are the last to celebrate this tradition, which is an end to a glorious era.
