The Africa Institutional Management Services (AIMS) through its School of Sport (ASOS) received confirmation of accreditation of qualifications from the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA). ASOS celebrated the launch of its sport qualifications on 13 October 2021 at the Mari-Gold hotel in Windhoek.

The training institution will offer the Certificate in Football Education and Practice (Level 3); and the Certificate in Sport Education and Practice (Level 3). Each course will run for two years.

The AIMS School of Sports (ASOS) focuses on professionalising sport through education and offers programmes that provide young athletes and sports enthusiasts the platform to receive formal and professional training experience from the best in sport science.

The deputy minister of sport, Emma-Kantema Gaomas, was present at the launch and said the AIMS School of Sports would help in prolonging the carers of athletes.

“Sport is a very short career. Just imagine, as a sportsperson you retire at the age of 34 or 35 and all of a sudden you have to deal with the issues of unemployment, you have no source of income or nothing to offer to society. This is why private-sector investment in sport education is very crucial,” Gaomas said.

AIMS was founded to empower Namibians who have dropped out of school and cannot enter the job market. The institution is accredited as an institution to offer qualifications by the NQA and registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) of Namibia. The institution trained over 5 000 employees from different public and private institutions.
