Standard Bank appoints new manager
Standard Bank recently announced that Mr. Gebhardt Tjiho is their new Agricultural Commercial Manager.
Tjiho, who is stationed in Gobabis, began his tenure at the bank on 16 January this year.
"I'm very excited to have joined a vibrant, visionary bank and very excited to operate in the business banking sector,” Tjiho said.
Tjiho has been a Sustainable Development Coordinator in the Corporate Affairs and Sustainable Development Department at Skorpion Zinc Mine and Refinery, a lecturer at the University of Namibia’s Animal Science Department, and also a consultant for the University’s Center for Consultancy Bureau where he carried out studies and implemented projects aimed at strengthening agribusinesses in the Northern Communal Areas of Namibia.
“At Skorpion Zinc Mine and Refinery my responsibilities involved external stakeholder engagement, sustainable projects implementation and monitoring. Before being transferred to the university, my initial employer was the Ministry of Agriculture.
"At the university I lectured in the fields of Rangeland Resource Management, Sustainable Resource Management and Animal Production courses. Apart from the general teaching tasks, I also conducted research, ran community outreach programmes and engaged in consultancy projects,’ he explained.
Although he is new to the banking industry, Tjiho said he is eager to take charge of his new role and looks forward to building close relationships for the bank.
“My mottos in life are to work for a cause, not applause. Live life to express, not to impress. Don’t strive to make your presence noticed, just make your absence felt,” he said.
