Lerisha Eises, new service admin clerk at Pupkewitz Accessory Fitment Centre (AFC), was born in Windhoek and grew up in Okahandja. She matriculated in 2018 from J G van der Wath Senior Secondary School and volunteered at a charity organisation from 2013 to date.

She was fortunate to be selected for the Commercial Advancement Training Scheme programme (CATS) with Pupkewitz Motor Division in June 2019 and recently graduated with a Diploma in Business Process Management NQF (level 6). This programme entails on-the-job rotational training and theoretical training at Namibian University of Science and Technology (NUST), which is called a dual education system and it runs for two years.

“Being on such a programme is worthwhile as you not only gain theoretical knowledge, but you are being equipped with practical on-the-job exposure, which enables you to grow and mature in your life,” Eises says.

She was one of the top academic performers over the two years. Although permanent employment was not guaranteed, she was appointed as service admin clerk at Pupkewitz Accessory Fitment Centre (AFC) in August this year. Pupkewitz Accessory Fitment Centre is one of the 16 subsidiaries of Pupkewitz Motor Division. AFC is a wholesaler, retailer and fitment centre to various brands. Their range includes 4x4 accessories, bull bars, roll bars, nudge bars, rubberising, canopies, suspension and much more.

In this new job, she is responsible for excellent service delivery, meeting deadlines and meeting set targets and objectives.

“Working for Pupkewitz Motor Division allows me to engage with individuals in a way that I can add value to people’s lives and brighten up their lives as this has always been important to me,” she says.

Her biggest accomplishment to date is managing to handle school, work, and the other activities she was involved in outside work. “I am very appreciative of every opportunity that life presents to me,” she says. She adds that she loves helping people and dancing. Lerisha says success to her is discovering her God-given purpose, gifts, talents and potential and combining them with the knowledge and skills acquired through the course of her life and then offering it to humanity, thereby adding value and making lives better. “You measure success by what change you could bring into your life and the lives of others. Success from that point is solely aimed at bettering the lives of the people around you,” she says.

Currently enrolled for a bachelor’s degree in accounting, she says that her future plans are to continue with her studies, gain as much skills and knowledge from the family of Pupkewitz Motor Division and to advance within the company. She also aims to leave a mark of excellent service delivery.

“Life does not come on a silver platter, it involves grinding, late nights, sacrifices, but it is worth it at the end of the day; just as the night eventually comes to an end and the dawn of day rises again, similarly nothing in life is permanent therefore approach any situation with a positive mind-set: mind-set is key,” she advises her fellow young people.
