Newsprint's Delta Lions introduced
Hashtag Festival
It is probably safe to say that management as much as personnel of Newsprint Namibia has committed boots 'n all to the first Hashtag-Festival, which will take place from 7 to 9 September 2017.
Apart from co-sponsoring the #Festival, the Newsprint manager and two of his management team have committed to act as NMH patrons to further #Festival franchises.
A number of learners of Jan Möhr Secondary School as well as the Windhoek Gymnasium Private School visited Newsprint's printing press in the Lafrenz Industrial Area of Windhoek and met up with Newsprint personnel this week.
Newsprint Namibia as sponsor has been allocated to the Delta Lions franchise, which comprises of students from Windhoek Gymnasium, Jan Möhr Secondary School and the Delta Secondary School Windhoek.
On the far left is Fernando Möller, the independent NMH patron of the Delta Lions and to his right is the Newsprint manager Ernst Venzke. In front (fifth from right) is Ms Alta van Zyl of Windhoek Gymnasium, who acts as franchise manager, seeing that Gymnasium is the managing school of the Delta Lions franchise.
During the Hashtag Festival, the Thursday and Friday slots will be mainly dedicated to the Career Expo with its information stands, presentations and lectures, with a few side-shows and cultural activities to raise further interest. The Career Expo and all other and subsequent activities will take place at the SKW sport grounds.
On the Saturday all nine franchises will compete against each other in sports codes such as seven-a-side rugby, five-a-side soccer, volleyball, hockey, tennis, Fast Five netball, etc.
The franchises themselves are made up of pupils from all regions of the country and aims to promote sportsmanship in Namibia, by bundling schools which would normally compete against each, into the same franchise and have them compete as a team against other franchises, which also operate outside their comfort zones.
