Khan vra 2de referendum oor Brexit

Sadiq Khan, burgemeester van Londen, het gevra dat nog ’n referendum oor Brittanje se lidmaatskap van die Europese Unie gehou moet word.

Khan sê Theresa May, die Britse premier, se hantering van die Brexit-onderhandelings is “versluier in verwarring en by ’n dooiepunt” en lei Brittanje op ’n pad van verwoesting.

Brittanje is veronderstel om op 29 Maart uit die Europese Unie te tree. May se planne vir Brexit word steeds uit alle oorde beveg en veroordeel en is nog nie aanvaar nie.

May het vantevore al enige moontlikheid van ’n tweede referendum verwerp. Volgens haar sal Britse parlementslede die finale sê hê oor die finale plan vir Brexit.

Khan se oproep om ’n tweede referendum sal meer druk op Jeremy Corbyn, leier van die Arbeidersparty, plaas om ook sy steun te gee vir ’n tweede referendum, hoewel ’n tweede referendum nie op die politieke agenda van dié party is nie. – Netwerk24/Reuters
