Idols finalist to perform
Idols singing sensation Carla Louw is one of the guest stars performing at this year’s Miss Namibia crowning. Carla was born in Cape Town and started singing at a very young age. Her father had his own music school and her first formal training started when she was 7 years old.
At the age of 9 she moved to Namibia and whilst still at school here, she performed at various schools throughout the country. It was also here that she won her first award for Best Upcoming Country Artist in Namibia. She returned to SA, recorded her first CD and did weekend performances at Music World in the East Rand Mall and at flea markets.
Then it was back to Namibia where she was in a German school for two years, still performing and singing at school funtions. In 2003 Carla knew that all she wanted to do was sing! She matrictulated at the Pro Arte School of Arts in Pretoria where she majored in Drama.
For the past two years she has worked in a few restaurants as a waitress and manager, sang at weddings and when Idols came along in June 2007, she knew it was an opportunity of a lifetime! Carla lives life in first gear and and her motto in life is: “Go BIG or go HOME!” It is this attitude which secured her a place as a Top 10 finalist in Idols and she looks forward to a bright and sucessful future!
