Hult Prize fosters innovation

The Hult Prize global platform, in partnership with the United Nations, is an engine for start-up businesses established by students. The programme is being initiated for the very first time at a Namibian university and is spearheaded by Eline Nyau as the campus director at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (Nust) for 2020. A total of 15 teams comprising of three to four Nust students each will be put together, with each team coming up with an innovative idea that drives a positive social impact. The teams will to participate in an on-campus competition, with the winning team getting the opportunity to compete regionally against other African countries between March and April next year. After the regional competition, the African representative will get the chance to pitch their winning idea during an accelerator week in New York. An invitation is currently open to all students who have an interest in business to join and register, in order to drive positive impacts on the planet, as stipulated by this year’s theme. The registered participants will receive training from business moguls and will have to pitch their ideas. They will be judged to identify a winner. The deadline for students to register is 3 November. Pictured is the group of students who turned up for the first information session held on 30 September at Nust.
