APLI takes on tech
With youth development at heart, the initiative will soon launch a tech programme, which coincides with their two-year anniversary.

Having trained more than 120 youth across 12 regions over its two years of existence, the Africa Pathfinder Leaders Initiative (APLI) has now realised the need to launch a programme which will train early-career information technology enthusiasts in fields relating to a career in back office automation.
This programme is vital to improving productivity, efficiency and effectiveness of institutions, systems and processes. “Namibian young professionals require the relevant skills to create and improve the systems”.
The pilot programme will be offered at no cost to participants and will run from October to December this year. Candidates are encouraged to consider this as an opportunity to expand their skill set or pivot a career in back office automation.
Specialised training
Providing three streams of specialised training, namely business analytics, bot development and solutions architecture, all activities will be monitored online. Sem Utoni, the founder and director of APLI, said candidates will be able to work through the material at their own pace. “We expect a minimum time commitment of eight hours per week over a period of three months,” he added.
Promoting their mandate to facilitate skills development opportunities as well as prepare Namibian youth for the future of work, APLI has hosted several fellowship and foundation programmes.
