About 23 000 applications received for the academic year 2021

The Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) has received about 23 000 applications since the process started on 18 January 2021 until 16 March 2021 via the NSFAF online application platform.

Due to the high number of eligible students and limited resources, a further validation by the ministry of finance was executed, hence the delay in announcing the 2021 awards.

The ministry of higher education, technology and innovation announced on 2 July 2021 that the validation process for eligible students had been completed.

The NSFAF will award loans to 16 185 applicants who met the criteria of income means-testing (parental/guardian or own income), academic performance and priority fields on the study.

This number is for undergraduate, vocational and post-graduate studies.

Students not to worry

The head of stakeholder relations at NSFAF, Chris Mwiya, says the lists are published and communicated to institutions to enable students to register for the second semester, where applicable.

“The fund however does not have autonomy on registrations at institutions. Under normal business, NSFAF engages with institutions to enable awarded students to register,” he says.
