Traumatized

As I’m writing this, I am still traumatized by yesterdays’ incident which occurred on 25/07/2016. The images vividly stuck to my mind.
On our way to work, my mother and I were harassed by a mentally disturbed man. He tried to open the front door of the car (where I was seated). After realising that the door wasn’t going to open, he started to grossly kiss the car window, which left the window stained. He later urinated all over the door and window.
This happened during rush hour, in the middle of traffic in Monte Christo road and there was no way we could avoid this predicament. However, this was the last straw, and that’s when we made a plan to escape.
It’s funny how society laughed when all this was happening.
I believe, this is the very same Mad Man that’s usually roaming the streets of Katutura. The very same man that targets women at Katutura Pick ’n Pay, taunting us, sneaking up behind us, and humiliating women in public by lifting up our skirts and dresses, only for society to laugh at such an event again. Who knows what this man is capable of?
My question is, why are mentally disturbed beings roaming the streets, without supervision of their families? Why is society and the Police allowing this? Should my mother and I have retreated and taken matters into our hands to defend ourselves and harmed this man, who is to be at fault?
Families please, take in your mentally disturbed people and care for them. Namibian women should not be in constant fear of men (mentally disturbed or sane).
