Zambians humble the Brave Warriors

Zambian striker Emmanuel Chabula was the star of the day as his brace ensured that his team won the Dr Hage Geingob Cup at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Saturday.

The Zambian team took control of the match from as early as the first half with accurate passes in the middle of the pitch.

Most of the Brave Warriors players appeared to be off form in a match which was watched by many Namibians.

Chabula made no mistake in the first half after connecting a great header to the ball just before halftime to give the Zambians the lead.

Namibia had chances to win the match early on but the players failed to capitalise on crucial chances.

Going into the second half Chabula made no mistake and beat Namibia’s goalkeeper Edward Maova from close range.

Most of the players lacked concentration from Namibian side and that is why Zambia capitalised on their mistakes.

It was Zambia’s second consecutive victory against Namibia after they beat the Namibia’s 4-1 in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Zambia did not make it to the 2019 tournament in Egypt though, and it was the Brave Warriors who claimed a place at the Egypt finals.

Brave Warriors coach Bobby Samaria said he was disappointed with the way the result went.

“As a team we tried to fight back but it was difficult to do so because the other team was playing with precision.

“We did miss a few players because we have a very big world cup qualifier match that is coming up soon,” Samaria said.
