Field Marshall Namutewa believes that “if your dreams do not scare you, they are simply not big enough.” Namutewa strives to not only reach for the stars, but to surpass them. He recently joined theNBL NBL) – a subsidiary of the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group as a brewer apprentice.
Namutewa grew up in the northern parts of Namibia in a small town called Eenhana, and graduated from the Haimbili Haufiku Senior Secondary School in 2013. ‘His interest in science and physics inspired him to enrol for a bachelor’s degree in science at the University of Namibia (Unam) in 2015 - majoring in physics, with biology as a minor. “I chose physics as my major because I’ve always been inspired by it and I’m passionate about anything science related.”
Seeing that this is not an easy course to complete and physics is an extremely difficult field to pursue, Namutewa knew that he needed to completely devote himself to his studies. “It is a complex discipline and required absolute dedication and hard work.”
Namutewa is extremely grateful for this opportunity that NBL has provided him with. “This will provide me with a lifetime of opportunities and offers me the possibility to become a qualified brewer,” he says.
“What motivates me in life is actually the courage and determination I have to show every day. I need to encourage myself every morning to get up and chase my dream and my vision. I’ve always wanted to become someone in society that achieves something which enables me to in return support my community.”
Namutewa is someone who never gives up in life, and his sheer will and determination has proven to be a key part of his personality. “It took me longer than others to complete my course, but I never even considered quitting. I knew I would one day become a scientist or someone who realises their dreams, and that motivated me to not give up, even when I was confronted with adversity. If you give up on your studies because you believe you won’t be able to find a job after you graduate, you will miss out on the opportunities your career will provide you with.”
Namutewa is grateful to be a part of the O&L and NBL family. “The atmosphere that NBL creates is exceptional. Our working environment is safe, we receive free transport to and from work, we are surrounded by friendly staff and co-workers who provide you with the opportunities to grow and prosper in life.”
Namutewa believes it is important to always use your passion to fuel you. “Passion is what drives you to do the most. Without passion, you won’t be able to identify the areas that you can excel in, because passion fuels you and your dreams.”
