NVF hosts development fun at The Dome

As part of the Namibian Volleyball Federation's (NVF) continued work to develop volleyball in Namibia, its leadership is very excited to launch the first event to develop beach volleyball at The Dome, Swakopmund.
Refuse Solutions constructed a facility that is able to house two international-size beach volleyball courts which were used for the Refuse Solutions Zone 6 beach volleyball club championships in December 2016.
The beach facility is also big enough to accommodate four beach courts for local tournaments and everyday use.
The first of four beach volleyball fun days, sponsored by Refuse Solutions and hosted by Timeout Beach Volleyball Academy, will take place on the first weekend in March 2017.
Saturday 4 March is Youth Beach Volleyball Fun Day (10-15 years old) and Sunday 5 March is Adult Beach Volleyball Fun Day (beginners and social players).
Refuse Solution's beach volleyball fun days are designed to offer the chance for complete beginners to social volleyball players, to try out beach volleyball in a fun, relaxed environment.
The days consist of a morning session which will be led by a team of coaches, teaching the basic of beach volleyball, individual ball touches, how to play in a team.
In the afternoon there will be a fun mini tournament to put your new-found skills into action. You do not need a partner; work will be done as individuals as well as in pairs and groups.
Lee Coetzee, director of Refuse Solutions, commented on the partnership: “We are a proudly Namibian, family owned and run business with a passion for development and construction in Namibia. We are enthusiastic about the development of this great sport and in constructing a partnership and to work side by side with The Dome and the Namibian Volleyball Federation in developing beach volleyball in Namibia.”
Dave Hammond, sales & marketing manager at The Dome, Swakopmund said: “Our main aim is to support youth and sport development. It does not matter what sport you wish to play, we just want to keep the youth busy. Beach volleyball has always been on our agenda and we are very excited to officially bring it to The Dome family.”
James Verrinder, NVF Director of beach volleyball said: “The Beach Volleyball Commission at the NVF is very excited about this ground-breaking partnership and is looking forward to continuing the development of beach volleyball within Swakopmund and the Erongo Region.
“Our vision along with our new partners is to build a coastal beach volleyball pool of athletes, a community of people playing this great game on a regular basis.
“Although the beaches are a fantastic place to play beach volleyball, it is important we have a permanent beach facility that can be accessed by anyone interested in playing the sport without the need to have their own equipment. We hope in the future the beach facility at The Dome can be floodlit and be used night and day.”
The other Refuse Solutions beach volleyball fun days at The Dome this year will be on 22-23 April, 9-10 September and 11-12 November.
