KEETMANSHOOP- The Namibian Chamber of Commerce and industry recently discussed the southern business climate and ways to provide financial stability through financial literacy to business owners.
"There are so many lucrative business opportunities in the south. People need to be educated on how sustainable air travel is then we need to make it physically possible to host more and more airlines at the airport in Keetmanshoop," said the NCCI president, Bisey /Uirab.
This was during his address at the groups' business meeting last week. He further mentioned that talks with Luderitz are underway to mobilize their airline and flights to and from their airport.
Although the //Kharas region primarily depends on SME development, many individuals say that access to funding remains a thorn in the side of businessmen across the region.
/Uirab further asked the attendees why it is so difficult for business owners to package business ideas.
Dead ends
Business owners all agreed that the process of filling out forms remain the biggest killer of dreams because it takes the average business owner weeks to complete paperwork.
Others attribute their lack of success to land not being made available.
Silvester Gawaseb says that bureaucracy within government institutions is very visible and this causes fewer businesses to succeed.
"The attitude of not caring is very prevalent, especially in government institutions. Their bureaucracy is what is disabling us. We need help in these regards." Gawaseb said.
