Namibia Tourism Expo presents: MyZone live cooking with Sanet Prinsloo

Wife, mother of three boys and philanthropist, Sanet Prinsloo actually needs no introduction.

In fact, she is a household name. Born and bred in Windhoek, Sanet has always tried to make the most of her life.

It was her father’s advice to first get a “real degree” before studying drama.

Prinsloo then decided to study BSc Home Economics in Bloemfontein and once she graduated, she travelled to London on a two year work-and-travel visa and eventually started a cooking career at a well-known hotel.

It was at this particular hotel that Prinsloo cooked for the likes of Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Bowie, Robbie Williams and the late Princess Diana.

After two very exciting years in the UK, Sanet decided to move back to her hometown.

In Windhoek she worked for her dad but, realised she wasn’t built for an office job. She needed more to satisfy her.

At that stage Prinsloo longed for the kitchen and everything related to it.

She wanted to work with people and also make them happy. It is no secret that food can do exactly that. Sanet made her way to the stove and her life changed forever.

It was over weekends and after hours that Sanet fed her passion for cooking by constantly standing in front of the stove.

A few years later Sanet and a lifelong friend opened a coffee shop and it was a huge success. After two years of trading, both decided to close the doors to keep their friendship healthy.

Currently Sanet supplies all Slowtown Coffee Roasters with pastries and cakes.

She is always busy and is currently involved with the Shoprite and Checkers Champion Boerewors competition, The Nedbank Kapana Cook-off Competition and above all, she is the president of the Nambian Chefs Association.

Sanet also occupies a seat on the board of the World Association of Chefs’ Societies (WACS).

Currently Prinsloo’s days are mostly occupied by organising the Namibia Tourism Expo.

When Sanet took over the chefs' theatre at the expo, she only had two sponsors, namely Easy Life Kitchens and Meatco.

Ten years later Sanet has made this expo grow form strength to strength and various other companies hopped on board as sponsors.

It is safe to say this is one of the most dynamic women within the borders of Namibia.

A true Namibian icon.

Sanet’s enthusiasm is contagious and her knowledge inspiring.
