ONGWEDIVA – The 2019 Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF) recorded nearly 11% less visitors than last year, OATF preparatory committee chairperson, Damian Egumbo, has said.
A total 75 660 people visited the trade fair this year, compared to 84 858 last year.
Egumbo cited the prevailing unfavourable economic conditions the country is facing and the increase in the number of trade shows and exhibitions held countrywide as possible factors.
He, however, expressed satisfaction with the number of exhibitors which increased from 450 in 2018 to 457 this year.
“Despite the prevailing unfavourable economic climate the country is going through, exhibitors are grateful for the number of visitors they received and for the platform that allowed them to expose and sell their products,” he said.
There is a need to revive the OATF in order to make it unique and attractive to ensure that the number of visitors increase in future, Egumbo said.
There is also a need to start activities that will help boost the show and as such the committee has developed a three-year plan that will guide them, the chairperson added.
