Glittering event to launch film city

THE president of the Namibian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and United Africa Group of Companies Managing Director, Martha Namundjebo-Tilahun, is setting the pace for Corporate Namibia through her commitment to the Night of The Stars Charity Spectacular.

“The red carpet is literally being rolled out for Namibian business leaders to make a meaningful contribution in a highly visible way. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to skills development and job creation.” said Ms Namundjebo- Tilahun.

In an interview from her Windhoek offices she noted that the Desert Star Vision to make Namibia the world’s most film friendly destination will undoubtedly make a strong impact on economic growth.

“As NCCI president, I wholeheartedly encourage our members and all Namibian businesses to attend The Night of The Stars. Desert Star’s contribution to the nation will have a positive impact on the national economy and will play an important role in taking the film and tourism sectors to the next level and we can only support that.”

Ms Namundjebo-Tilahun will be welcoming guests from the podium on the evening and deliver a short address as the President of NCCI. The Night of the Stars Charity Spectacular will be held on 11 October 2010 at the Windhoek Country Club.

Aiming to raise several million dollars in one evening for First Lady Pohamba’s OEWENA Charity and the Desert Star Film Academy, the event is gathering a constellation of national and international executive business and government leaders, celebrities and prominent personalities to burn bright for the good of the nation.

The invitation and guest list include a who’s who of those in support of Desert Star from the Presidency to Ministers of various sectors and special guests including the golfing legend Ernie Els. Local music talent Vm6, Stephan Ludick, Gal Level, and Lize Ehlers will also brighten the star filled evening. Ernie Els will give a brief presentation on the Golf Course of the Stars which he is designing for Desert Star.

Broadcast live on television, this exclusive red carpet event presents a unique opportunity to showcase corporate Namibia’s high profile support for development issues embodied in Desert Star’s vision to see Namibia become one of the world’s leading film and tourism destinations.
