Finance warns against Shiimi hoax on FB
Jo-Maré Duddy – The ministry of finance has warned against a fake Facebook page using the name of minister Iipumbu Shiimi and promising funding opportunities for businesses and farming establishments allegedly supported by the International Development Association (IDA).
The Facebook account uses the email address [email protected] and is “fake and unauthorised”, the ministry’s chief public relations officer, Tonateni Shidhudhu, said in a statement.
“The imposter has been requesting people to submit their personal details to be added on the beneficiary list. The ministry would like to inform the public that the said account is fake and such programme or grant does not exist,” Shidhudhu said.
He added: “Please remain vigilant, as fraudsters have many ways of phishing information which are to their benefit.”
