Ondersteuners van pres. Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi van Egipte woon 'n politieke vergadering in Kairo by. Die Egiptiese weermag het aangekondig dat 16 djihadiste Sonsdag in 'n operasie teen die Islamitiese Staat-groep (IS) in Sinai dood is. Twee lede van die Egiptiese weermag is ook in die aanval dood. Die weermag het met 'n volskaalse veldtog teen IS in Sinai begin nadat die Egiptiese president, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, wat hierdie maand vir 'n tweede termyn in presidentsverkiesings staan, hulle 'n drie maande spertyd gegee het om IS in Sinai uit te roei.
