Eenhana council budgets over N$90 million

EENHANA – The Eenhana Town Council has budgeted over N$91.4 million for its expenses during the 2019/20 financial year, with the biggest portion of close to N$40 million going to capital projects.

This was announced by the town’s mayor, Amos Nangolo, when he presented the council’s 2019/20 budget on Friday.

Nangolo said more than N$18.5 million is allocated to personnel expenditure, including inflationary adjustments, while about N$2 million is budgeted for the salary reserve fund meant for unforeseen personnel expenses and retirements.

“Council has proactively considered and subsequently made a moderate provision for inflation adjustment of five per cent in salaries and wages of all staff members in order to address some of the challenges brought by inflation,” the mayor said.

“We remain unwavering in our quest to develop Eenhana as a town for all, a top destination of excellent investment opportunities and cared environment for residence within northern Namibia,” Nangolo said.

In its efforts to improve service delivery, the council will expand its office complex by 2020 at the cost of some N$17 million.

“This development will provide council with the adequate office space necessary to bolster the workforce that it is currently unable to sustain due to the lack of office space,” the mayor said.

The expansion will include a council chamber to accommodate members of the public who are interested to attend council meetings and deliberations.
