Educational roadshow launched

//Karas region governor Aletha Frederick on Monday launched the Governor's Educational 'Pep Talk' Roadshow for all grade 11 and 12 learners in the region.
This initiative, powered by the governor's office and the Namibia National Students Organisation (Nanso), is aimed at motivating learners who have missed out on face-to-face learning due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The effects of Covid-19 are devastating on all spheres of human life, be it economically, socially, politically, educationally, or spiritually. This requires us to continuously operate from a decisive and united front to fight the effect of the virus,” Frederick said during the launch.
“With knowledge and support, I now have the blessing to visit relevant schools in the region to address the grade 11 and 12 learners,” she further said.
Full circle
The governor’s office has teamed up with other stakeholders in education to help bring this initiative full circle.
Dr Erold Naomab, who is the director and pro-vice chancellor of the University of Namibia’s southern campus, will be the keynote motivational speaker during the roadshow alongside five members of Nanso.
“I am also pleased to announce that Namdeb has sponsored our request to procure basic stationery such as red and blue ballpoint pens, a pencil, an eraser, and a ruler; although these items are limited, they will be distributed to the learners during the envisaged pep talk sessions,” Frederick said.
The pep talks form part of the governor’s acquaintance tour to the different constituencies of the region. The first leg took place on Tuesday, 6 October, in Karasburg, and the roadshow will conclude on 17 October.
