Delicious dishes at Olupale Traditional Restaurant

Having opened its doors on 1 August 2018 by owner Raina Augustus, this traditional restaurant is unique, as it dishes up memories of Namibian heritage and culture for food lovers, tourists and the community at large. According to Augustus, the restaurant’s name is derived from the ancient Oshiwambo people and refers to a place where a guest is received and promised pleasant memories in a particular place. “This is a place where people sit on traditional wooden chairs, surrounding the fire and enjoy delicious meals,” she said.

The restaurant is situated on the corner of Libertina Amathila and Hendrick Witbooi streets on erf 3662 in Swakopmund. The restaurant is famous for its okapana, mopane worms and traditional marathon chicken dishes. Apart from traditional food, the restaurant also sells seafood and pizza, among other food, and it also offers the best cocktail in town.

Olupale Traditional Restaurant is open from 09:00 to 22:00, Mondays to Sundays.
