Death and injury to election officials
BAB WRITES FROM //KHARAS:
The Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Theo Mujoro you are a stalwart and a veteran when it comes to national elections in this country.
I loved the way how you've handled the advertisement of the positions both for registration and the elections itself, which in essence have a cost-cutting sense.
Against this background, I would like to see that you address the question of indemnity in the employment contracts of officials during the upcoming electoral process. We must remember that unemployed people are being recruited and they subsequently don't have any death coverage at all.
It usually happens that some officials succumb at the hands of irresponsible and reckless drivers during such processes, especially those being loaded on the back of pick-ups.
So, there is a potential need that you must bring in an indemnity clause into the appointment contracts of elections officials and/or you must indicate in the contracts how you are prepared to assist the families should such unforeseen eventualities occur, for instance whether you could offer to only assist with the coffin etc. in order to meet such impoverished families halfway, but this is of paramount importance.
