’n Regter in Argentinië het oudpres. Cristina Fernández de Kirchner van hoogverraad aangekla en die land se senaat gevra dat sy in hegtenis geneem word omdat sy glo Iran se beweerde rol in die 1994-bomaanval by ’n Joodse gemeenskapsaal in Buenos Aires waarin 85 mense dood is, probeer toesmeer het.

Fernández, wat tans ’n senator is, word deur parlementêre immuniteit beskerm, dus sal die senaat eers oor die kwessie moet stem.

Fernández en haar minister van buitelandse sake, Hector Timerman, wat ook aangekla en onder huisarres geplaas is, het vroeër skuld ontken.

Sy het ’n mediakonferensie gehou om haar standpunt te benadruk en gesê daar is geen saak of misdaad om van te praat nie.

Die misdaad kan tronkstraf van tot 25 jaar beteken, die swaarste straf wat die land se howe kan oplê. – Netwerk24/Reuters
