A table full of hope
Ms Mudi Pontac donated 42 wigs from her private collection to the Cancer Association of Namibia in support of women fighting cancer in Namibia. Pontac confesses that she has “a love for wigs that suite her outfits when dressing up for an occasion”, but felt the need to help women who lose their hair during cancer treatment by donating her prized items (some hand-made, some ordered from the internet) to CAN. The Association renders a welfare service to cancer patients by assisting women who suffer hair loss due to chemotherapy with wigs. This donation enlarges CAN's collection on offer to assist Namibian women and is greatly welcomed. The Cancer Association of Namibia is also urgently looking for local wig manufacturers, since the previous manufacturer of natural hair wigs in South Africa now charges over N$40 000 per wig, making the production unaffordable for the association. Pictured is CAN's Sister Christy Kavetuna with Ms Tresia Kamati, a breast cancer patient and recipient of a wig donation, with Ms Pontac.
