THE Walvis Bay Goju Ryu Karate Club had a grading test recently conducted by Sensei Carl van der Merwe, 6th Dan and chief instructor of Namibia, Sensei Nico Maritz, 3rd Dan instructor of the Walvis Bay Club, and Sensei Marion Bause, instructor from Windhoek. Sensei Carl is pleased with the progress and standard of the Walvis Bay students.
A few students from Windhoek were also graded. The following students passed a tough grading test successfully on 1 November 2008 and received the following grades: Sylvia Maritz (Walvis Bay, Yellow+ 2). Jacques Gryffenberg (Walvis Bay, Yellow +2).
Onesmus Ndahangwapo( Walvis Bay, Yellow+ 1 A). Ruan Langenhoven (Walvis Bay S, Yellow +1 A). Sandra van Schalkwyk (Windhoek S, Yellow+1 A). Andre Engelbrecht (Windhoek S, Yellow+1 A). Edre Mostert (Walvis Bay, Orange+ 2). Justin Smith (Walvis Bay, Orange+ 2).
Austin Maswahu (Walvis Bay S, Orange+1 A). Utomuini Hijamutiti (Walvis Bay, Orange+1). Johann van Rooyen (Windhoek S, Green A). Tulinawa Muatunga (Walvis Bay, Green). Renate Potgieter (Walvis Bay, Green). The group also had a prize giving afterwards.
