8.09.2010 Swimmers set new records

NAMIBIAN swimmers performed exceptionally well at the gala held last weekend. With no less than five swims scoring more than 650 FIN A points, this was one of the fastest galas ever hosted in Namibia.
Christine Briedenhann (14) set four new Namibian records for the age group women 13-14:
100m backstroke: 1 minute 09,88 seconds
50m butterfly: 29.84 seconds
100m freestyle: 58.87 seconds
50m freestyle: 26.93 seconds
Both Christine’s freestyle records are also Namibian open records, making her the fastest female swimmer of the competition.
Micaela Cloete (14) set new Namibian records for women 13- 14 in:
100m breaststroke: 1 minute 16.98 seconds
50m breaststroke: 34.85 seconds
100m individual medley: 1:08.24 seconds
Other new Namibian records were set by:
Gunter Cloete (10) in the 50m freestyle for men 10 & under with a time of 33.47 seconds and Lushano Lamprecht (12) in the 50m backstroke for men 11-12 with a time of 34.75.
New NASU records for women 10 & under were set by Katja Majewski (10) in 100m breaststroke (1:33.59) and 100m butterfly (1:27.66).
With their excellent performances both Christine and Micaela now qualified to participate at the 10th FIN A World Short Course Swimming Championships to be held in Dubai in December this year.
Other qualifiers for the Dubai championships are Jonay Briedenhann, Daniela Lindemeier, Quinton Delie and Max Siedentopf.
