Heidi Kebbel receiving her trophy from SKW’s Chairman, Heinz Büttner.

THE Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) recently hosted their annual awards. A total of 25 sportsmen and women received several awards from the club that hands over prizes to 13 divisions once a year. At the same occasion special awards where handed over to members that have been affi liated to the club for 30, 40 and 50 years without interruption.

Horst-Erwin Trossbach was awarded for being an SKW member for 50 years.
The SKW 50 Year award is one of the highest honours that the club bestows on members. At the moment the highest honour is the 60 Year award made from pure gold. While a few membership awards where handed out this year, the fi rst 60 Year award is due to be handed over in 2011, since the SKW was founded in 1951.

Jürgen Kriess, who was one of the founding members, passed away two weeks ago and was an SKW member for 59 years. The SKW’s history began in 1900 when it was a gymnastic club only. Later activities where extended to include soccer, tennis and other sport codes.
