Rain didn’t stop Top Score 7-a-side action

The AutoZone Boyz handed out a bit of a rugby score to Namcor with an 8-0 victory on Field A.

AFTER hefty rain delays in January, the first games of the year for the Top Score 7-a-side tournament kicked off with a bang at the Ramblers sports grounds in Pionierspark last Friday.

Although still the preliminary rounds of the annual corporate tournament, teams came out in full force to produce some splendid soccer.

Although light rain fell towards the end of the evening, the most remarkable score out of more than 30 games played on Friday evening was the 8-0 thrashing dealt by Autozone to Namcor.

Other noteworthy performances were G-Tech’s 5-1 levelling of LRD (Laurelton- Reign Diamonds) Warriors, while Compuneeds brought Onyama Yummi down to earth with a convincing 4-0 win.

Another crowd favourite, NamWater, dealt a 6-0 victory to cross town rivals Pupkewitz. A growing trend at the tournament is that teams ensure they have ample support from colleagues, family and friends.

The results seem to speak for themselves as those teams with most supporters usually triumph over their less supported counterparts.

The next round of games is scheduled for this Friday at the Ramblers sports grounds.
