The participants of the Elite Cycle Camp held in Omaruru.
A group of seven Namibian cycling talents left Windhoek on the afternoon of Friday 13 January to attend a training weekend presented by professional cyclist Dan Craven.
In a ten seater bus, sponsored by Toshiba, all bicycles and riders left the rainy weather in the capital behind and arrived just in time for a first training ride from Karibib to their camp in Omaruru.

The program continued the next day with a 170 km session on the road from Omaruru to Kalkfeld. Throughout the day, discussions were held, with Craven answering questions about tactics, techniques and in general about the life of a professional cyclist. As clouds stayed away over the whole weekend, the participants also made good use of the swimming pool at the Omaruru Rest Camp, where the group was accommodated.
The short course was rounded off with a 130 km ride on Sunday morning, during which some typical race situations were staged and practiced.
This was the first time that Craven organised an elite cycling camp, besides the usual Nedbank Craven Camp that will still take place from 10-12 February 2012. This was mainly possible due to the strong line of sponsors such as Nedbank, Cymot, Omaruru Spar, Kia Motors, USN, Fx Fitness and others. Considering the positive feedback of all participants, this will surely not be the last elite cycling camp offered by Dan Craven.
