Brilliant gymnastics comes to Walvis in 2010

Anica Profitt, Zone 6 champion in rhythmic gymnastics in 2009.
DURING February and March 2010, two of the highest African gymnastics competitions will be held at Walvis Bay. The Namibian Gymnastics Federation is extremely busy but very proud to have been chosen to host these two most prestigious competitions, being the Youth Olympic Qualifying Games for the African continent and the 10th African Championships for Juniors and Seniors.

The different Namibian gymnastics sections will have most of the final selection of teams towards the end of January by means of qualifying trials and then only the best will represent the country.

The highlights of these competitions are stipulated as follows and the Namibian community is invited to support the gymnasts by taking the time to sit and enjoy spectacular gymnastics at the Jan Wilken Sport Complex, Walvis Bay: A detailed program will be forwarded as soon as all the names have been registered with the organizing committee.

It is expected that the total delegation to attend these competitions is more than 500 and the Walvis Bay community is getting ready to receive the international delegation with a warm Namibian welcome.

“Competitions of this caliber have many advantages for our tourism industry. Another market of the world community has the opportunity to get to know our country and we are planning to entice them to come back time and again hereafter!” says Mrs Valereis Geldenhuys Venter, president of the Namibian Gymnastics Federation.
