FX FITNESS, the Namibian personal training and fitness studio, has come on board as official sponsor of the “Most Athletic Player” award for the 2010 DTS Maerua Superspar beach volleyball series. This was announced this week by tournament director Heiko Kesselmann during an official sponsorship handover.
“We are glad to have secured Fx FITNESS as additional sponsor for this year’s beach volleyball series and through their involvement we can further improve the event for participants and spectators,” Kesselmann commented. Fx FITNESS confirmed their sponsorship of the “Most Athletic Player” award, which will be awarded to a male and a female player at each tournament, as well as overall winners at the end of the series.
These awarded players will receive official orange coloured shirts to wear at the subsequent tournament, through which these athletic players can easily be identified by spectators and supporters. “For Fx FITNESS there is an ideal fit between both Beach Volleyball as a sport as well as the ‘Most Athletic Player’ award and the Fx brand,” Fx director Heiko Diehl explained.
In beach volleyball an individual player can add significantly to the performance of the team if he is in shape and plays at his best – and it is only with a high level of fitness where this can be achieved in the soft sand of the beach volleyball courts,” Fx trainer Elke Bockmühl added.
Players in the two-a-side mens’, ladies’ and youth category as well as in the four-a-side social category, qualify for selection as most athletic player. The focus of the judges will also not be on skills only, but rather on the athletic performance, effort and overall contribution to the team’s success by the individual player.
The DTS Maerua Superspar Beach Volleyball series kicks off this Saturday at the DTS courts in Olympia. Categories include twoa- side ladies, men and youth as well as the popular four-a-side social event. For social teams at least one female player has to be on court at all times and not more than one registered regular player is allowed per team.
For the first time this year a mini volleyball competition will also be included with these tournaments. Kids can participate in these events in the under 11, under 13 and under 15 age categories.
With this addition to the tournament series, the events cater for the whole family and volleyball players of all ages and levels. For more information about the beach volleyball tournaments, please contact tournament director Heiko Kesselmann at h.kesselmann@ transworldcargo.net or at 081 244 8070.
