Make way for new blood

Ms Johanna Hausiku (on behalf of the concerned Swapo members, supporters, sympathisers) writes:

DEAR Editor, please be kind and grant me a space to place the undermentioned open letter in your daily newspaper to my fellow Swapo Party comrades in Grootfontein. What next?

This is on the lips of each and every Swapo electorate, members, supporters, sympathisers and indeed the whole community of Grootfontein, after they have voted for the current Swapo councillors and entrusted their hope to bring the much needed economic development to this northern town.

The future looks very pale and the question is what will happen to their beloved town in years to come, since those entrusted to endorse and implement the 2004 Swapo Party manifesto could not bring a single economic development to the town.

Yes, the current crop of councillors serving on the Swapo Party ticket have failed the party, the electorate as well as the community of Grootfontein to deliver. The same Swapo Party manifesto being used in other towns/districts was supposed to be followed here in Grootfontein district. It is really unrealistic that after five/six years in office, the councillors could not manage to bring a single economic development to the town.

Yes, I agree with you that you have succeeded in misleading and dividing the Grootfontein comrades in groups because of the coming regional and local authority elections due in a few months’ time, simply because you want to remain in your positions again.

Shebeens and kabushus, yes that is all you were capable to bring to Grootfontein which have just only increased the crime rate in the town. Our hard won tax payers’ money was wasted on local/international trips and you came back empty handed. No feedback or information after the trips to the electorate showed your incapability.

Comrades, to be honest with you, relinquish your positions and give others a chance to develop the town for us and the future of our children. Your motto “major for life” won’t do us any good. If you really not believe me, try to prove us wrong by trying to tell us what you have done during your term of office.

Just compare Tsumeb, Otjiwarongo or Rundu for that matter and you will know what I am talking about. Comrades, what you have not done during your terms of office are not acceptable.

Be honest with yourselves and step aside and let other comrades take over during the upcoming elections. Your negotiating skills as well as your administrative skills have failed us.

All current councillors serving on the Swapo ticket, please do the right thing, jump the gun or the electorate will be left with no other option than to relieve you from your duties. Your infights have let the party down. Let others take over for the sake of our beloved town and district.

Your skills will be more successful at sectional or branch levels, but beyond that, there are other capable cadres who can lead us out of this mess you have created. Remember, leaders are not made, but born. There are many other comrades to lead us to the next level.
