OSHAKATI – The Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (DTA) has effective plans for the floods that have been causing havoc to various households in northern Namibia for the past two consecutive rainy seasons.
The party‘s Secretary-General, McHenry Venaani, said this whilst speaking to his party’s members, supporters and sympathisers at the Okandjengedhi community centre at Oshakati in the Oshana region on Sunday.
Venaani explained that if elected into power during the upcoming Presidential and National Assembly elections, the DTA of Namibia is going to construct “underground reservoirs” in the vicinity of the flood-prone areas.
The idea is to prevent vulnerable households from becoming flood victims again.
“We are going to close the reservoirs and store water in these reservoirs for use in the irrigation projects,” Venaani told his audience, adding that this is being done in Israel, China and Korea.
He used the same platform to once again promise the electorate that they will avail bursaries for science and mathematics students, establish a drugs manufacturing factory and offer interest-free housing loans for the youth owning houses worth not more than N$140 000.
“Don’t be afraid of Swapo intimidation, no struggle is easy. We have to face Swapo head-on,” Venaani said whilst encouraging DTA members, supporters and sympathisers to continue with the house-tohouse election campaign in the North.
Some 400 people attended the rally.
