NUDO Parliamentarian, Arnold Tjihuiko, addressed a rally at Aminius over the weekend. He had the following to say.
“Fellow Namibians, it is our time now, you and I, to do something about the mess that the SWAPO-led government has created for this country.
“For the last 20 years SWAPO has been telling you the same stories, a story of better health care, better education, job creation, economic growth, but let us look at what SWAPO has done.
“SWAPO does not care about you, the poor people that is why SWAPO steals from the poor and shares among themselves.
“Fellow Namibians, SWAPO does not care about the poor, that is why the SWAPO top leadership took scholarships meant for the poor and shared among themselves.
“Our health care system has collapsed, regional development is skewed in favour of some regions and SWAPO destroyed the small stock industry in the south of our country.
“It confused export of cattle on the hoof to South Africa by putting an unnecessary 15% levy on it.
“It almost destroyed an American grant that was meant for the poor and is now playing cat and mouse with EPA`s.
“Fellow comrades, let us look at what the governor of the Bank of Namibia was quoted to have said in The Namibian of Monday, 09 November 2009.
“Namibia is no way near reachingits own development targets and needs intervention in its labour market and education system to get back on track.
“At the present moment fellow comrades, 28% of Namibian households of four have to have to live on less than N$262 a month.
“Fellow Comrades, according to the latest Afro barometer 25% of Namibians had to go without anything to eat, 14% had nothing to eat on many occasions while 18% were without food once or twice during the year.
“FAO reported in one of their recent reports that 400 000 Namibian are hungry, 20 years of SWAPO rule. But while the nation is facing precarious situation, it is a situation that has been created by visionless and careless SWAPO administration.
“SWAPO is still continuing misusing government resources e.g. vehicles, NBC for the purpose of the elections.
“A country with a population of less that two million people is governed by 31 ministers and deputy ministers. To us this is a scheme to create jobs for comrades. If elected to power NUDO will immediately reduce these and the savings will be spent on job creation activities.
“The best way to address poverty, hunger and disease is to grow the economy. Stop corruption and government wastage and that can effectively be done by doing one thing and one thing only and that is to replace SWAPO maladministration by electing to power a party that cares.
“Now is our time to do the right thing and that is to vote out SWAPO. Yes, let us vote out SWAPO now, not tomorrow, not a day later but today.
“Make sure that you have your voting cards ready.
“Make sure all of you vote on the 27th November 2009, please do not wait for the 28th because you do not know what may happen between the 27th and 28th.
“Let us all vote the first day and let us all vote NUDO for a bright future.”
