APP challenges candidates’ ability

BUNYA – The All Peoples’ Party (APP) has challenged candidates of all 13 political parties contesting the forthcoming presidential election to reveal their academic qualifications to the electorate.

This is apparently to be judged on their credibility to govern the country.

Speaking during a meeting at the Bunya village, some 50 km west of Rundu on Sunday, APP national chairman Herbert Shihwameni said Namibians need real change.

They should be led by qualified leaders and not just leaders acquiring what he termed “honorary qualifications from the streets”.

Shihwameni also called for an open national debate among political parties on the country’s current socio-economic status, including education and land issues.

Speaking at the same occasion, APP secretary-general Marcellus Mudumbi told the community members of Bunya that Ignatius Shixuameni is the right presidential candidate to lead the country, given his academic qualification of a Masters’ degree in Political Science.

Meanwhile, APP’s Administrative Secretary for Finance, Johannes Strauss, told APP members and supporters that the ruling Swapo Party has failed the Namibian nation, because there are no visible rural development in the Kavango region.

The APP is scheduled to hold another rally to be addressed by Mudumbi at the Utokota village in the Mashare constituency this coming Saturday.

The APP’s 2009 election manifesto is titled ‘Fundamental change and just wealth redistribution’.

Namibia will hold Presidential and National Assembly elections on 27 and 28 November this year.
