RUNDU – Swapo party vice-president Dr Hage Geingob, has urged all eligible voters to go out in large numbers and vote for President Hifikepunye Pohamba, whom he described as a mature and tested leader. Geingob said Pohamba is capable of leading the country to greater heights.
Addressing a ruling party rally at Rundu on Sunday, Geingob described the Swapo party as the only political party where its National Assembly list reflects diversity, and is the only political party that has the interest of all citizens at heart.
He reminded the electorate that the presidency of the Republic is a serious office that needs to be run by a committed and responsible leader. According to Geingob, who is the Minister of Trade and Industry, the Swapo party‘s presidential candidate Pohamba is an honest leader, who will never resign from the Swapo party and form other political parties like some leaders in other parties.
He added that Namibia needs a steadfast leader, who does not migrate from one political party to another. During the rally, 11 people from the opposition Congress of Democrats (CoD) publicly joined the ruling party, where Geingob welcomed them.
He further stated that there is no way opposition parties will win these elections, and that they are only there to disturb the electoral process. Geingob thus urged all Swapo party members, supporters and sympathisers to walk away from those provoking them to avoid violence.
