‘Give them another mandate’

HENTIES BAY – SWAPO Party member and founder of the International University of Management (IUM), Dr David Namwandi, has appealed to Namibians to give SWAPO another mandate to rule in the upcoming elections.

Namwandi was the keynote speaker at a SWAPO rally held in Henties Bay on Saturday, and stressed that apartheid and colonialism had been buried once and for all.

“There are those who want to bring back colonialism, but we will fight. We will fight. We remain the masters of our destiny,” he said.

“Our victory was not earned on a silver platter. Blood was shed. We have crossed the bridges of blood, and brought independence. Not the independence of Wambo’s, not the independence of Herero's, not the independence of Damara's, not the independence of Afrikaners, but the independence of Namibians,” he stressed.

Namwandi also told the crowd that during the apartheid era, SWAPO was the only recognised liberation movement.

“SWAPO represents all Namibians,” he boasted.

He said SWAPO has never used its two-thirds majority in the National Assembly to nationalise the assets of foreigners or the previously advantaged, nor did they change laws to expropriate farms owned by foreigners.

SWAPO respects the law, and will remain true to their policy of national reconciliation, Namwandi said.

“SWAPO loves all who live in this land. Whites, blacks and coloureds. It is the policy of SWAPO to unite all Namibians,” he continued.

“There are prophets of doom who feel SWAPO is only for blacks and that whites are not allowed. Shame on them!” he charged.

Namwandi then encouraged the previously advantaged to adopt a policy of caring for their neighbour.

“Life is about sharing. We must live and let live. If you don't share, you won't enjoy what you have,” he explained.

Namibians, he said, should give SWAPO another mandate to rule as SWAPO will leave no stone unturned in making sure that all the needs of the people have been met.

He also encouraged the youth to participate in safe sex.

“Don't engage in unsafe sex because we need you. We don't want this land to be governed by foreigners after all of us have died, so please take precautions,” he warned.

The Presidential and National Assembly elections are taking place on 27-28 November this year.
